Machine Translation

Fast, secure, and controlled machine translation for multilingual content. PangeaVox Translation uses a proprietary on-premise pre-translation system developed through collaboration with the startup Trad AI, helping clients process content efficiently without sending confidential files to public online translation tools.

Controlled processing

Secure machine translation for high-volume content

Machine translation can be useful when large volumes of content need to be processed quickly, consistently, and cost-effectively. However, not every machine translation workflow offers the same level of control, confidentiality, or linguistic suitability.

PangeaVox Translation uses a proprietary on-premise pre-translation system. This approach is designed for clients who need the speed of machine translation while keeping sensitive content within a controlled processing environment.

Speed

Efficient preliminary processing for suitable high-volume and repetitive content.

Confidentiality

Local pre-translation without sending files to public online machine translation engines.

Workflow control

Human review can be added according to the content type, risk level, and intended use.

Choose the right workflow

Machine Translation, MTPE, and Human Translation

Machine Translation does not replace MTPE or Human Translation in all contexts. The appropriate route depends on the material, quality target, risk, and final use.

Confidentiality

On-premise processing for confidentiality

Pre-translation is performed on-premise. Files are not uploaded to public online translation engines during this stage, helping to reduce unnecessary exposure of confidential business, legal, technical, and institutional content.

  • Local processing
Pre-translation takes place within a controlled local workflow.
  • No public online MT engine
Files are not submitted to public online translation tools during pre-translation.
  • Controlled file handling
Files remain within the agreed project process and delivery route.
  • Suitable for confidential material
The workflow can support sensitive content after case-by-case assessment.
  • Integrated linguistic review
Professional review is available where the content type and intended use require it.

Use cases

When machine translation is appropriate

Machine translation is most effective when the source text is clear, consistent, and well structured. The following content types may be suitable after review of their purpose and risk.

Internal documentation

Large volumes of lower-risk material intended for internal understanding.

Manuals

Structured technical manuals with clear language and consistent terminology.

Knowledge bases

Recurring help and support content with predictable structure.

Catalogue content

Product information and repetitive catalogue entries prepared at scale.

Corporate content

Repetitive business material with a defined internal or preliminary use.

Draft translation

Preliminary translation for internal review and information gathering.

Multilingual preparation

Content preparation before professional human review or post-editing.

Controlled terminology

Projects with approved terminology, consistent source text, and predictable structure.

Highly creative, legally binding, reputationally sensitive, culturally sensitive, or publication-ready content may require Human Translation or MTPE rather than raw machine translation.

Project process

How the workflow works

The exact workflow is selected according to the files, content type, risk level, and intended use. Not every project requires every optional stage.

  1. Scope review

We review the language pair, file type, subject matter, volume, confidentiality requirements, and intended use.

  2. File preparation

The source files are checked and prepared. Where needed, OCR or desktop publishing support can be added.

  3. On-premise pre-translation

Suitable content is processed through the proprietary on-premise system without relying on public online translation tools.

  4. Optional linguistic review

According to the content type, risk level, and intended use, professional linguists can provide MTPE, quality assessment, or terminology checks.

  5. Final delivery

The translated or pre-translated files are delivered in the agreed format, with formatting support where required.

Suitability assessment

Quality depends on content type

Machine translation quality depends on the language pair, subject matter, source text quality, terminology consistency, and document structure.

Works best when...

  • The source is clear, repetitive, and well organised.
  • Terminology is consistent and the document structure is predictable.
  • The purpose is internal understanding, draft processing, or preliminary multilingual preparation.
  • The language pair and subject matter produce usable output for the agreed workflow.

Needs human intervention when...

  • Wording is ambiguous or source files are poor.
  • The text contains complex legal language, marketing nuance, or humour.
  • Content is culturally sensitive, client-facing, legally significant, or publication-ready.
  • Accuracy, tone, or reputational risk requires MTPE or Human Translation.

Content domains

Suitable for confidential domains

The suitability of machine translation is assessed case by case, especially for regulated, sensitive, or high-risk content.

Legal and corporate

Internal legal and corporate documentation where the agreed use supports this workflow.

Technical and industrial

Structured technical materials, manuals, specifications, and industrial content.

Financial and institutional

Controlled processing for suitable financial and institutional materials.

Healthcare and life sciences

Suitable structured content, subject to specialist and risk assessment.

Policies and training

Internal policies, training materials, and recurring corporate documentation.

Product and support

Product documentation, knowledge bases, and structured support content.
